{"id":376839,"date":"2025-12-28T21:31:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-28T21:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/376839\/"},"modified":"2025-12-28T21:31:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-28T21:31:10","slug":"20-wins-from-only-50-race-days-tadej-pogacars-incredible-2025-season-in-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/376839\/","title":{"rendered":"20 wins from only 50 race days: Tadej Poga\u010dar\u2019s incredible 2025 season in numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2025 WorldTour was Tadej Poga\u010dar\u2019s sixth season as part of the pro peloton and saw the Slovenian cement his place as one of (if not the) greatest riders of all time.<\/p>\n<p>Although only 27, the UAE Team Emirates rider surpassed 100 pro career wins, finishing the season on 108 to date.<\/p>\n<p>These weren\u2019t the cycling equivalent of a footballing goal poacher\u2019s tap-ins, either, and included three more Monuments, four Tour de France stage wins and a second UCI Road World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>But his season wasn\u2019t defined only by wins \u2013 it was the manner in which he achieved them, too. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/racing\/tadej-pogacar-unstoppabble-andy-mcgrath-book\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Poga\u010dar<\/a> continues to show new ways to come out on top; whether that\u2019s targeting his rivals\u2019 weaknesses over the course of a three-week Grand Tour or launching seemingly kamikaze solo attacks that only he can sustain.<\/p>\n<p>When he can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/tadej-pogacar-v02-max-study\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hold an estimated 442 watts for 40 minutes<\/a>, it\u2019s clear the Slovenian is on another level. But what is his ceiling? Eric Lalmand \/ Getty Images <\/p>\n<p>Poga\u010dar took on all five Monuments for the first time as an Elite rider, claiming wins at the Tour of Flanders, Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne\u2013Li\u00e8ge and Il Lombardia, while finishing second at Paris\u2013Roubaix and third at Milan\u2013Sanremo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His three victories, including his fifth consecutive Il Lombardia win, took him to 10 Monuments, and he now trails only Eddy Merckx (19) and Roger De Vlaeminck (11) in the all-time standings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Slovenian still needs to win at Paris\u2013Roubaix and Milan\u2013Sanremo to join Merckx, De Vlaeminck and Rik Van Looy as the only riders to complete the set, and both are on his race calendar for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>20<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1585\" height=\"1066\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/GettyImages-2226144340.jpg\" alt=\"Tadej Pogacar leads Tour de France peloton.\" class=\"wp-image-952890\"\/>Poga\u010dar claimed 20 victories from only 50 race days in 2025. Tim de Waele \/ Getty Images <\/p>\n<p>While he only started 50 race days all year, the 27-year-old made it count when he did, picking up nine stage wins, eight one-day race victories, three general classifications and the mountain classification at the Tour de France.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His 20 wins, including his fourth Tour de France, second world championship and the European championship, were more than half as many as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/pro-bike\/worldtour-bikes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WorldTour<\/a> teams managed all year. David Ramos \/ Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Poga\u010dar displayed a variety of ways of winning in 2025, but none were as explosive as his solo attacks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When the Slovenian throws down the gauntlet, no other rider can match his raw power, and the result becomes something of a foregone conclusion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He used this tactic to great effect when defending his rainbow jersey at the Road World Championships in Rwanda, pulling away with 66.6km to go and time-trialling all the way to the line.
