SHEDDING first-year rookie status is something Aaron Cameron<\/a> is very much looking forward to when he hits the track in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.<\/p>\n

Cameron was thrown in the deep end back in March when the Blanchard Racing Team parted ways with Aaron Love<\/a> prior to Round 2 at Albert Park.<\/p>\n

A tricky period followed as driver and team alike found their footing, before the 2023 Gold Star winner gathered serious momentum through the back half of the season \u2013 culminating in a front-row Adelaide start.<\/p>\n

His sophomore campaign now awaits, and he\u2019s eager to climb the pecking order as five new drivers enter the championship (i.e. Jackson Walls<\/a>, Rylan Gray<\/a>, Zach Bates<\/a>, Jobe Stewart<\/a> and Jayden Ojeda<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how many times I\u2019ve been pushed around in general this year which is all part of it and I\u2019m fine with it, but next year the median age comes down massively for the category and I can\u2019t wait to push around some of them first-year guys just like happened to me this year,\u201d Cameron told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously I\u2019ll only be in my second year but if you look at my experience compared to others just in general racing is a lot more than the guys coming in.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I\u2019m looking forward to getting the elbows out a bit more next year, especially coming into the year knowing a bit more about the cars and how the racing style works.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cameron will also be a more senior figure within his own team, as the constant in a BRT driver line-up that sees James Golding<\/a> in for James Courtney<\/a> on the other side of the garage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no doubt that next year I have to step up a lot more than I have for the majority of this year,\u201d said Cameron.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll have a previous running at every circuit in a Gen3 Supercar except Sydney, so I fully expect to be helping push the team forward more than I have this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really excited to be working with Jimmy Golding next year. We have obviously worked together in the past at GRM so I think collaboratively we will be able to push this team further up the grid.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have full faith that this team won\u2019t be last in the championship next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
