The Portuguese coach, one of the most famous and successful football managers in the world, accepted the challenge this year of returning home to take charge of Benfica, who have won just one title in the past six years despite being Portugal\u2019s most decorated club domestically.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference on the eve of a league match, Mourinho said: “Benfica’s history shows that it has lagged behind at times, but most of the time it doesn’t. <\/p>\n

“Lewis Hamilton lagged behind in the last two F1<\/a> seasons, but he won seven or eight championships, the F1 driver with the most titles. Benfica is also the club with the most cups in Portugal.” \u00a0\"hamilton-abu-dhabi-f1-jpg\"\/<\/p>\n

The Briton is coming off the most difficult season of his career. During his first season with Ferrari<\/a>, Hamilton failed to score a Grand Prix podium for the first time in his F1 career.Hamilton cleared of blame for tough 2025 as main issue pinpointed<\/p>\n

Former Michael Schumacher engineer Luigi Mazzola believes the bulk of the responsibility for Hamilton\u2019s underwhelming 2025 campaign at Ferrari lies more with the team rather than the driver.<\/p>\n

The Italian acknowledged that Hamilton was not entirely blameless, but stressed that Ferrari failed to provide him with the consistency, support and technical tools required to get the best out of his abilities during a difficult adaptation phase.<\/p>\n
