<\/p>\nMeghan Markle and Prince Harry\u2019s 11th publicist, Meredith Maines, resigned after the couple\u2019s photo drama with the Kardashians.<\/p>\n
News of Maines\u2019 departure as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex\u2019s chief communications officer of Archewell Philanthropies was announced Friday.<\/p>\n
A source tells Page Six that Maines resigned before Christmas but is staying with the company through the new year to help with the transition.<\/p>\n
An insider tells us that the drama with the Kardashians was the \u201cfinal straw\u201d for Maines.<\/p>\n
Page Six has reached out to Harry and Markle\u2019s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.<\/p>\n

Just weeks before Maines quit, the \u201cHarry & Meghan\u201d stars made headlines after attending Kris Jenner\u2019s 70th birthday party on Nov. 8.<\/p>\n
Harry, 41, and Markle, 44, arrived at the bash held at Jeff Bezos and Lauren S\u00e1nchez\u2019s $175 million Beverly Hills, Calif., mansion hand in hand.<\/p>\n
They mingled and networked with the A-listers, which included Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z, Beyonc\u00e9, Bill Gates, Paris Hilton, Tyler Perry, Ciara, Mark Zuckerberg and many more.<\/p>\n
After the party, the Skims co-founder and her mom shared a carousel of photos, including one with the \u201cSuits\u201d alum and her beau.<\/p>\n
However, the drama began to unfold when Kardashian and Jenner suspiciously deleted the photos they took with the Sussexes.<\/p>\n
A source told Page Six that people close to the royal family thought Harry and Markle\u2019s appearance at the bash was \u201cso tacky.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt truly shows that Harry is so far removed from the rest of the family. These people may be stars in America, but the pure ostentatiousness is at odds with what Prince William is trying to do with his life and the monarchy,\u201d the insider told us last month.<\/p>\n
A source told us that the Invictus Games founder and the actress\u2019s rep asked Jenner and Kardashian, 45, to remove Instagram pictures that showed them at the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey don\u2019t want to piss off the royal family while they are trying to reconcile,\u201d a source said.<\/p>\n
Another insider told us that the Kardashian-Jenner family was \u201cgetting annoyed with the Sussex camp\u201d for \u201covershadowing\u201d what was intended to be \u201ca celebration of Kris.\u201d<\/p>\n
As the head of PR for Harry and Markle, Maines, who began working for the couple in January, had to deal with all of the public backlash the couple endured.<\/p>\n
On Friday, news surfaced that Maines was stepping away from her role with the Sussexes.<\/p>\n
A source close to Maines exclusively told Page Six, \u201cShe\u2019s unflappable, and does not complain \u2026 she really enjoyed her time there, but at a certain point it\u2019s time to go.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cComing from the VC and tech industries, she\u2019s used to so many things going on at all times,\u201d the insider continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cOthers may have thought it was not a traditional background, but I think it worked well. The amount she was able to do in almost a year was amazing \u2014 she launched Meghan\u2019s podcast and TV show \u2026 and looked after the Prince\u2019s charity work.\u201d<\/p>\n
The source shared that Maines \u201cdid what she needed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Harry and Meghan\u2019s charity is now down to just two employees.<\/p>\n
