{"id":378325,"date":"2025-12-29T14:22:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T14:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/378325\/"},"modified":"2025-12-29T14:22:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T14:22:07","slug":"jonathan-rea-reveals-key-detail-behind-standout-worldsbk-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/378325\/","title":{"rendered":"Jonathan Rea reveals key detail behind standout WorldSBK victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">From 119 victories, picking one that stands out from Jonathan Rea\u2019s WorldSBK career is not the easiest task \u2013 on the surface, at least \u2013 but for Rea the choice is obvious.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When you look back, a race like Race 2 at Lausitzring 2016, or Race 1 at Imola 2019 stand out as impressive victories in Rea\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Superbike<\/a> career.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">But the one that started it all came in Race 2 at Misano in 2009, Rea\u2019s rookie year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Winning out in a three-way battle with the factory Ducatis of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/1704\/michel-fabrizio\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michel Fabrizio<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/1757\/noriyuki-haga\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nori Haga<\/a>, Rea took victory in Race 2 after finishing eighth in the opening race of the day, and he did it after finding a key technical change on his Ten Kate Honda on the Thursday before the race, as he revealed in a press conference ahead of his final race as full-time rider at Jerez in October.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cFor sure, my first victory,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/1555\/jonathan-rea\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathan Rea<\/a> said when asked which of his wins stands out, \u201cin 2009, Misano.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe were with the Ten Kate Honda team \u2013 an amazing team, great people, and probably so underestimated. They had a lot of support from Honda Motor Europe, not so much from Honda Motor [Company] itself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI think what they achieved was incredible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI remember just on the Thursday morning there was new gold forks fitted to my bike \u2013 never been tested, never been used. We changed suspension manufacturers and went out and won the race against Nori Haga and Michel Fabrizio on the factory Ducatis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIt was a moment that you dream of: you know you can be good, you dream you can be good, but when you finally win it\u2019s like a huge relief and a validation that you\u2019re not just a fast rider but a very good one.
