Bennett has coached nearly 1000 NRL games and he can\u2019t recall a worse injury toll in all his nearly 40 years as a head coach at this level. <\/p>\n
\u201cOh absolutely, I haven\u2019t gone close to that,\u201d Bennett said when asked if this was the worst injury toll he has seen. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think we had about eight or nine at Redcliffe last year at one stage, but we\u2019re on 13 today.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t have an 18th man tonight. The 18th man pulled out before the game. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe had headaches from concussion two weeks ago and he\u2019d been cleared and passed all the tests but he still wasn\u2019t well. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey came back in the last couple of days and he hadn\u2019t said much to us and we made the decision before the game not to put him on the bench.\u201d <\/p>\n
Despite the heavy defeat, Bennett was not disappointed with his players and paid tribute to their fighting spirit and character led by Captain Jai Arrow. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not disappointed and silly that it may sound,\u201d Bennett said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just know how hard they try and I can\u2019t ask more than that. <\/p>\n
\u201cI know NRL better than probably most guys I\u2019ve done it for so long and I\u2019ve seen this happen through Origin periods when the Broncos had eight and ten players in Origin and we had kids up for two or three weeks and they just fall away then. So we\u2019re in that place. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to regroup and go again next week. Maybe we\u2019ll have some back next week I\u2019m not sure. <\/p>\n
\u201cTen minutes into the game and we lose our hooker for the game. He didn\u2019t come back. Anyway, that\u2019s our lot and we\u2019ve got to regroup. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe captain was wonderful here. He never stopped trying. He was our sixth captain.\u201d <\/p>\n
