The final Monday night matchup of the 2025 NFL season has arrived.<\/p>\n
Wrapping up Week 17, the Atlanta Falcons<\/a> will be hosting the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> on “Monday Night Football,” with each team having differing playoff outlooks. For the 6-9 Falcons, postseason hopes have already evaporated, while the 11-4 Rams are still eyeing improved playoff seeding in the NFC.<\/p>\n Even without any playoff outlook, Raheem Morris’ unit should have plenty of motivation to continue winning on Monday night \u2014 the Falcons owe the Rams their 2026 first-round pick after the teams made a 2025 draft day deal. Atlanta’s young defensive pieces have hit a stride lately, and the Falcons come into Week 17 on a two-game win streak as Kirk Cousins returned as their starting quarterback.<\/p>\n Monday’s matchup could also factor into the 2025 MVP race, as Matthew Stafford appears to be in a back-and-forth battle with Patriots<\/a> quarterback Drake Maye for the honor. It goes for four yards, but is enough to move the chains.<\/p>\n End of the first quarter: Falcons 7, Rams 0<\/p>\n 8:49 p.m.:\u00a0Atlanta leads and has a new set of downs as the first quarter expires.<\/p>\n Once again, it’s Robinson, who takes a reception nine yards across the sticks.\u00a0<\/p>\n 8:45 p.m.:\u00a0Stafford connected with Mumpfield for four yards, setting up a 4th & 1. Stafford rolls out left and buys time, then finds Xavier Smith downfield.<\/p>\n LA needed 10. So far, Smith and Mumpfield have a catch.<\/p>\n Falcons 7, Rams 0<\/p>\n 8:34 p.m. TOUCHDOWN:\u00a0In fitting fashion, the Falcons find the end zone on 3rd & goal. Of course, it’s Bijan Robinson.<\/p>\n Cousins is able to float a ball to the running back, who hauls in a four-yard touchdown in stride. It goes for 13 yards to the Atlanta 48.<\/p>\n 8:21 p.m.:\u00a0The Rams now faced a 3rd & 7 inside the 10\u00a0\u2014 a penalty took back a long Los Angeles return\u00a0\u2014 and just like the Falcons it’s a three-and-out<\/p>\n Stafford looked to his left and found Konata Mumpfield, but he was just short of the line to gain. It brought out Ethan Evans for a punt, and Atlanta’s Deven Thompkins fair caught it at the 35.<\/p>\n Cousins and the Falcons offense have the ball back after the teams exchanged three-and-outs to open the game.<\/p>\n 8:18 p.m.:\u00a0Robinson took the first two carries for a few yards, setting up a 3rd & 7.
