He is a career .241 hitter during four major league seasons with four teams, but excels as a baserunner and a defender.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-746446fd=\"\">The Dodgers acquired Ruiz from the A&#8217;s last April, and he was a little-used reserve when he was in the majors for the back-to-back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/mlb\/world-series\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Series<\/a> champions. Ruiz batted .190 in 19 games for Los Angeles, largely playing as a defensive replacement or a pinch runner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-746446fd=\"\">The Marlins designated infielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/mlb\/eric-wagaman-player\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eric Wagaman<\/a> for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster for Ruiz.
