{"id":379807,"date":"2025-12-30T06:16:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-30T06:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/379807\/"},"modified":"2025-12-30T06:16:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-30T06:16:11","slug":"formula-1-young-gun-samples-bathurst-winning-supercar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/379807\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula 1 young gun samples Bathurst-winning Supercar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LIAM Lawson has lauded the rawness of Supercars machinery after sampling the Chevrolet Camaro which powered Shane van Gisbergen and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1189-Richie-Stanaway\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Richie Stanaway<\/a> to the 2023 Bathurst 1000 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Lawson\u2019s opportunity came at Highlands, the New Zealand circuit owned by Tony Quinn \u2013 who also owns the ex-SVG Red Bull Ampol Gen3 Supercar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s such a fun car to drive,\u201d said Lawson, who has tallied 35 grands prix to date and will once again compete for Racing Bulls in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved it. It\u2019s the most raw car to drive, with the big sequential shifter and you\u2019ve got three pedals. No assists. It\u2019s just very raw, very loud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s sick around this track as well, lots of kerbs, camber, stuff like that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be amazing to see them race here one day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The drive was not Lawson\u2019s first in a Gen3 Supercar, having hopped behind the wheel of a Blanchard Racing Team Ford Mustang last year at Albert Park.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/MH2_7765-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-139716\"  \/>Liam Lawson with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-15-James-Courtney\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James Courtney<\/a> at Albert Park 2024.
