Despite scorching mid-30s temperatures at the Shepparton Velodrome, the cycling community’s passion couldn’t be dampened, with over 100 dedicated riders, supporters, and volunteers embracing the challenge.<\/p>\n

The Shepparton edition also saw an innovative change in format.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got really good feedback, which is good,\u201d SCC president Brett Lancaster said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing is you can’t keep everyone happy, but I think in life generally, if you get a lot of good comments, it’s successful.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe changed things up a bit this year; normally your kids, juniors, are done by, let’s say 1pm or 2pm, but we sort of overlapped them a bit and had the seniors start earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201c(It\u2019s) something just different, outside of the norm.\u201d<\/p>\n

The day\u2019s racing was met with positive feedback according to Lancaster, who also thanked the efforts of his committee and sponsors, not just for this event, but for a continued rise in local participation across the board.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got to thank (the committee) personally as a president because we\u2019ve had quite a few new members,\u201d Lancaster said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had an amazing sponsorship push from Troy and my wife Ally on a little team that worked on that over the last four or five weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust locally, what businesses have put in and even individuals, it’s been amazing (and) I can’t thank them enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout the sponsors, we just can’t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Carnival also saw rising Shepparton CC star Isla Shaw compete, who claimed three runner-up placing\u2019s in Castlemaine before sweeping her races in Bendigo a day later, winning three from three before another successful day at her home club.<\/p>\n
