After failing in his quest to play in a competitive NFL fixture, Wales speedster Louis Rees-Zammit has revealed that he should be joining a new rugby club soon.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old announced recently that he would be returning to the 15-man game after trying his hand at American football and said he has already been contacted by rugby union clubs who want to acquire his services.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, I obviously can\u2019t name teams, but we\u2019ve had a load of interest, which is unbelievable,\u201d Rees-Zammit<\/a> told Sky Sports. \u201cYou know, I\u2019m very grateful for that. We\u2019re still going through what the full plan is for me.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously the season starts pretty soon. So it\u2019s about finding the right team for me in terms of location, in terms of how quick I\u2019ve got to get into camp.<\/p>\n \u2018All of these things are going to happen pretty sharpish\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cAnd because the season\u2019s right around the corner, so all of these things are going to happen pretty sharpish.<\/p>\n \u201cSo me and my brother are going through negotiations and seeing teams interested, which is amazing. So we should find out in the next week or so.\u201d<\/p>\n Rees-Zammit opted to switch codes in January 2024, shortly before Wales<\/a>\u2019 Six Nations squad announcement, but after unsuccessful stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars he is making his way back to rugby union although he said he feels he made the right decision to explore his chances in the NFL.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s one that I would never change, no regrets,\u201d he said. \u201cI was fully into it, fully backed myself.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd sometimes it doesn\u2019t work out the way you want it to, but I think now is a perfect time to come back to rugby and do what I\u2019ve always loved doing, and that\u2019s playing rugby and playing for my country.\u201d<\/p>\n After leaving rugby union with 32 Test caps for Wales under his belt, Rees-Zammit joined the NFL International Player Pathway, which gives elite athletes from around the world the chance to earn a spot on an NFL roster.<\/p>\n Louis Rees-Zammit in sudden NFL departure as Wales star \u2018decides\u2019 to make rugby return<\/a><\/p>\n He initially signed a contract with the Chiefs but was then axed from their roster before penning a deal with the Jaguars last August.<\/p>\n Changed positions<\/p>\n
