(WLOS)  \u2014 UNC Health Pardee announced it will implement visitor restrictions at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pardeehospital.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pardee Hospital<\/a> due to an increase in flu and other respiratory illnesses in the area, joining a list of North Carolina hospitals with similar rules.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/officials-urge-flu-shots-hygiene-as-region-faces-rise-in-respiratory-illnesses-influenza-a-western-north-carolina-adventhealth-mission-health-prevention-visitor-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">INFLUENZA A, RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES SPIKE IN WNC, CAUSING HOSPITAL VISITING RESTRICTIONS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Beginning Dec. 30, the Hendersonville hospital will enforce the following restrictions in all inpatient areas:<\/p>\n<p>A limit of two visitors per patientVisitors must be 11 years or olderPeople should not visit the hospital if they have respiratory symptoms or any of the following: headache, muscle aches, cough, fever, sore throat, or a runny or stuffy nose<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur top priority is always the health and safety of our community,\u201d Dr. Greg McCarty, the chief medical officer at UNC Health Pardee, said in a written statement. \u201cThese temporary restrictions are necessary to prevent further spread of respiratory illnesses and ensure our health care providers can continue to deliver the highest level of care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials with Pardee said that while mask-wearing remains optional, it is strongly recommended during periods of increased flu-like illnesses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/visitor-restrictions-implemented-by-adventhealth-due-to-rise-in-respiratory-illnesses-rsv-covid-19-influenza-outbreak-hendersonville-sickness-spreading-germs-wearing-masks-visitation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">VISITOR RESTRICTIONS IMPLEMENTED BY ADVENTHEALTH DUE TO RISE IN RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/visitor-restrictions-implemented-by-adventhealth-due-to-rise-in-respiratory-illnesses-rsv-covid-19-influenza-outbreak-hendersonville-sickness-spreading-germs-wearing-masks-visitation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">AdventHealth also issued visitor restrictions<\/a> on Monday, Dec. 29, citing an increase in respiratory illnesses. A spokesperson for AdventHealth said that, in an effort to keep patients and children safe, no one under 18 is allowed to visit the hospital at this time.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/news\/local\/article314032075.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Charlotte Observer reported Monday<\/a> that several hospitals in Charlotte  were also seeing a spike in flu-like cases, prompting Novant Health to restrict visitors under 13 and Atrium Health to limit visitors at certain facilities. <\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>JOIN THE CONVERSATION (1)<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Mission Health announced visitor restrictions that will start on Wednesday, Dec. 31.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.
