Liam Lawson may only have spent two unhappy F1 grands prix with Red Bull earlier in the year, but the New Zealander wasted no time in a return of sorts.<\/p>\n
Lawson was handed the opportunity to recently get behind the wheel of the Gen 3 Red Bull V8 Supercar at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell in his home country.<\/p>\n
It was a car that compatriot, and three-time Supercars champion, Shane van Gisbergen, steered to victory in the 2023 Bathurst at Mount Panorama.<\/p>\n
Lawson, who returned to Racing Bulls after his short stint at Red Bull, and who will drive for the team again next season after being handed a new contract at the end of the last campaign, described the car as “very raw”.<\/p>\n
The machinery is now in the hands of Highlands Motorsport Park owner Tony Quinn, who is also a part-owner of the Triple Eight Racing Supercars team.<\/p>\n
In an Instagram video you can see below, Lawson certainly suggested he could handle himself in Supercars.<\/p>\n
Speaking in the video, Lawson said: “It’s such a fun car to drive. It’s so cool. Yeah, I loved it.<\/p>\n
“It’s the most raw car to drive, with the big sequential shifter, and you’ve got three pedals, no assists. It’s just very raw, very loud, sick around this track as well, lots of kerbs, camber, stuff like that.
