Fresh off a massive home win at Ninja Stadium against the Melbourne Renegades, the Hurricanes return for their second home match in four days with a return fixture against the Scorchers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tomorrow’s game will be the first BBL match of 2026 for the Hurricanes, in the traditional New Years Day fixture that has become a staple for Tasmanian cricket fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Hurricanes had their third win in a row on Monday night at Ninja Stadium, as they won against the Melbourne Renegades for the second time this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bowling first once again, Skipper Nathan Ellis (3-30) led from the front with a Player of the Match performance with the ball, while Rishad Hossain (2-34) also continued his great form with the ball as he sits third in the Golden Arm with eight wickets in the tournament so far.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tim Ward (30 off 25) got the Hurricanes off to a decent start, before Beau Webster (27 off 20) batting for the first time in nine BBL seasons for the Hurricanes, was dismissed with 77 runs needed off 45 balls.<\/p>\n
Matthew Wade (43* from 20) then produced a vintage performance, hitting four massive sixes square of the wicket to help the Hurricanes home with seven balls to spare.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tomorrow night sees Local Replacement Player Charlie Wakim come into the 14-man Hurricanes squad, with Beau Webster returning to the Ashes squad ahead of the fifth test on 4 January 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Jake Weatherald also remains unavailable due to Ashes commitments but is expected to return after the fifth Test.<\/p>\n
