Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today Arrow<\/a><\/p>\n It was a similar story in the second innings with Travis Head (46), Steve Smith (24 not out) and Cameron Green (19) the only three batters to reach double figures.<\/p>\n Despite Australia wrapping up the Ashes series with victory in the first three Tests, plenty of batters have struggled for runs.<\/p>\n Hayden, who said some of the bowlers have shown better technique than the batters, put the blame squarely on Di Venuto.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s an unacceptable scorecard. I don\u2019t care if it was 50 millimetres of grass. They need to be better than that,\u201d he said on All Over Bar The Cricket podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201c(Travis) Head, Weatherald, Labuschagne, (Usman) Khawaja, (Alex) Carey, Green; they\u2019re all at sea with their basic techniques.<\/p>\n \u201cThe only technical thing I see is coming from our bowlers, who look more technically sound than our batters. Now why is that?<\/p>\n \u201cThe faceless man in this cricket team is always an issue. Michael Di Venuto has been there at least five years.<\/p>\n \u201cAssuming we\u2019re going to have on scale change in our batting lineup … on the whole we\u2019re going to have generational change, we need some generationally different voices in that mentality of how you play.\u201d<\/p>\n Hayden went on to say his issue with Di Venuto is not personal, but he\u2019s just \u201cnot a fan of him\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI just think for too long there has been an influence in this group around batting, and I don\u2019t feel it\u2019s served the development of the team or the technical element of Test cricket,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n \u201cNot just on green wickets but in the subcontinent, where we\u2019ve been competitive but haven\u2019t had the skill sets required to cope in those conditions.<\/p>\n \u201cAs much as I like \u2018Diva\u2019, I feel like there has to be some change, because I don\u2019t want to be sitting here on this podcast in two years going, \u2018Well we\u2019ve got all these technical difficulties\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s nothing personal against Diva but at some point, you have to take accountability.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the piece I really struggle with the most. It\u2019s like, \u2018Yep, it\u2019s green, therefore we\u2019re going to play a certain way\u2019.
