{"id":383701,"date":"2026-01-01T01:06:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T01:06:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/383701\/"},"modified":"2026-01-01T01:06:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T01:06:06","slug":"warriors-132-125-hornets-1-jan-2026-game-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/383701\/","title":{"rendered":"Warriors 132-125 Hornets (1 Jan, 2026) Game Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHARLOTTE, N.C. &#8212; \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3975\/stephen-curry\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Curry<\/a> scored 26 points in his annual homecoming game in Charlotte, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/gs\/golden-state-warriors\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golden State Warriors<\/a> defeated the Hornets 132-125 on Wednesday in front of 19,685, the largest crowd ever at the Spectrum Center.<\/p>\n<p>              Brandon Podziemski and Jimmy Butler each had 19 points for the Warriors, who\u2019ve won five of six games. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4997536\/gui-santos\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gui Santos<\/a> added 13 points off the bench, hitting three 3s for Golden State, which went 24 of 49 from beyond the arc.<\/p>\n<p>              <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4433287\/brandon-miller\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brandon Miller<\/a> led Charlotte with 33 points, while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4432816\/lamelo-ball\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LaMelo Ball<\/a> finished with 27, going 7 of 10 from 3-point range. Rookie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/5061575\/kon-knueppel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kon Knueppel<\/a> added 20 points in his return from a one-game absence because of a sprained ankle.<\/p>\n<p>              Charlotte played without starters <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4066383\/miles-bridges\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miles Bridges<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4576060\/ryan-kalkbrenner\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Kalkbrenner<\/a> because of injuries.<\/p>\n<p>              The Warriors led 69-64 lead at halftime behind four 3s and 15 points from Curry \u2014 who grew up in Charlotte and played college ball at nearby Davidson \u2014 and appeared on the verge of blowing out the Hornets after starting the third quarter on a 10-0 run. But Charlotte quickly turned the tables with Ball hitting three 3s, helping the Hornets put together a 32-12 run to take the lead heading into the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>              The momentum swung back to the Warriors after Podziemski knocked down two 3s to open the fourth.<\/p>\n<p>              The Warriors held the lead throughout the rest of the fourth quarter and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/6589\/draymond-green\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Draymond Green<\/a>&#8216;s tip-in off a Curry miss from deep with 1 minute remaining pushed the lead to six.
