A tradie has filmed the incredible moment he reeled in a two-metre-long great white shark.<\/p>\n

Oscar Ford, 25, and his young cousins were fishing for tuna and snapper off Barwon Heads on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula on Sunday.<\/p>\n

After a few quiet hours, they put out a bait balloon when he suddenly realised his line had snagged something much bigger when he heard a massive splash and spotted a fin.<\/p>\n

He asked his cousins to start filming what would turn out to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Holy f***,’ he said.<\/p>\n

One of his cousins told the other: ‘Get the GoPro!’<\/p>\n

The young carpenter spent 35 minutes struggling to reel in what he initially thought was a mako shark.<\/p>\n

‘It’s a f***king white, holy s***, holy crap, I’ve caught a white off Barwon Heads,’ Mr Ford screamed.<\/p>\n

Oscar Ford reeled in a great white shark on Sunday, an experience that he’ll never forget<\/p>\n

‘Oh my God!’<\/p>\n

The shark was filmed swimming underneath and alongside the boat before its jaws latched onto the vessel.<\/p>\n

‘He’s biting the boat, get that on film, get that on film,’ he said.<\/p>\n

‘This is going on the news, mate!’\u00a0<\/p>\n

One of his brave cousins even dunked a GoPro into the water for a closer look, which captured the shark baring its teeth centimetres away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As sharks are a protected species, Mr Ford eventually released his catch, which swam away unharmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I was just in disbelief, I was like this is insane, I would never have thought this would happen,’ Mr Ford told Nine News.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I had so much emotion, so much adrenaline running through me.<\/p>\n

‘I was feeling a million different emotions, I was feeling on top of the world.<\/p>\n

The epic catch was filmed off Barwon Heads on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula<\/p>\n

‘As soon as we saw it, we were going crazy, it was just such an amazing experience to see such a big, beautiful animal.’<\/p>\n

Mr Ford shared the extraordinary footage to his Flickin with Oz YouTube<\/a> channel, which racked up thousands of views within a day.<\/p>\n

‘Well done guys! Great release too!’ one stunned viewer commented.<\/p>\n

Another added: ‘Wow! That stretch of coast sits right along a seal movement and feeding corridor, once the food moves on so will that shark. Nice work.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

It follows a spate of recent sightings off the state’s coast this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shark attacks in Victoria are uncommon, where a fatal shark attack hasn’t been recorded in almost four decades.<\/p>\n
