However, she couldn\u2019t reveal the location at that point due to ongoing lease negotiations, although she noted that her government had changed policies around leasing spaces of more than 5,000 square feet to accommodate the centre.<\/p>\n Morning Email Telegraph-Journal<\/p>\n Thanks for signing up!<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n Advertisement 3<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to make sure that this community has that dedicated space, we want to free up this hospital,\u201d Holt told reporters gathered at the Charlotte County Hospital in November.<\/p>\n In its recent community update posted online, Horizon indicated that space planning and renovations will begin at the centre\u2019s future site in the new year.<\/p>\n \u201cThe existing clinic at Charlotte County Hospital will continue to operate as usual, with no interruptions, while renovations to the new space are underway,\u201d Horizon noted in its update.<\/p>\n Holt previously told reporters that the target was to open the new space in early 2026.<\/p>\n Once opened, the operation will be known as the St. Stephen Family Health Team.<\/p>\n The new site is expected to help the team expand services, recruit more health-care professionals and take more unattached patients off the primary care waitlist, according to Horizon.<\/p>\n Advertisement 4<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n Opened in 2018, the Charlotte County Collaborative Wellness Centre has added seven staff members in the last year alone and taken 310 new patients off the primary care waitlist.<\/p>\n More than 2,000 patients have been served by the centre\u2019s new access clinic, which has provided non-urgent appointments since February for those without a family doctor.<\/p>\n The expansion of the Charlotte County centre was the ninth project announced under the Holt government\u2019s collaborative care initiative.<\/p>\n In early December, the Holt government surpassed its target of establishing and supporting 10 collaborative care clinics in 2025.
