Pace duo Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, and big-hitting Tim David have all been named in Australia’s “provisional” 15-player squad for the men’s Twenty20 World Cup despite injury concerns.<\/p>\n

Cummins, recovering from a back injury, played only the third Test of the Ashes<\/a>, while Hazlewood’s hamstring strain ruled him out of the entire series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

David, similarly, sustained a hamstring injury while playing in the Big Bash League for the Hobart Hurricanes<\/a>, but all three are in line for selection for next month’s World Cup in Sri Lanka and India.<\/p>\n

“Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David are tracking well and we are confident they will be available for the World Cup,” selectors chair George Bailey said.<\/p>\n

“This is a preliminary squad so should changes need to be made they will ahead of the support period.”<\/p>\n

Mitchell Marsh will captain the team once again, with Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly also back in the squad after missing the T20s against India earlier in the summer.<\/p>\n

Australia will name a separate squad for three T20s against Pakistan just before the tournament.<\/p>\n

Australia will be based in Sri Lanka for the group stage, kicking off its campaign against Ireland in Colombo on February 11 followed by Zimbabwe two days later.<\/p>\n

The team will then head to Kandy to meet co-hosts Sri Lanka on February 16 and Oman on February 20.<\/p>\n
