Stephen Colbert<\/a> made an appearance on CNN New Year\u2019s Eve Live 2026<\/a> on Wednesday night (December 31) to take shots with hosts Andy Cohen<\/a> and Anderson Cooper<\/a>, and things got a little out of control.<\/p>\n

Appearing via video link from his New Jersey home, the late-night host looked back on his tumultuous year<\/a>, which included CBS and its parent company, Paramount, canceling The Late Show<\/a> (the final episode is scheduled to air in May).<\/p>\n

\u201cSo much has happened in the last year of your life, I\u2019m curious what you left last year having learned. What was the major lesson you learned last year?\u201d Cohen asked Colbert.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat did I learn this past year? Don\u2019t trust billionaires!\u201d Colbert responded. \u201cThey don\u2019t get rich by finding that money on the side of the road, brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert previously made a dig<\/a> at his billionaire bosses after Paramount Skydance made a hostile counteroffer for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) valued at more than $108 billion last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust yesterday, my beloved parent company, Paramount, reportedly launched a hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros. valued at $108 billion,\u201d he said on the December 9 episode of The Late Show. \u201cWow. I gotta say, if my company\u2019s got that kind of green, I\u2019m sure they can afford to un-cancel one of their best shows.\u201d<\/p>\n

WBD had already accepted an offer from Netflix before Paramount\u2019s counterbid, which would see Netflix acquire WBD\u2019s film and TV studios, HBO, and HBO Max.<\/p>\n

Speaking of HBO, Colbert, Cohen, and Anderson also touched on the steamy sports drama Heated Rivalry<\/a> during their shot-taking interview. When Colbert\u2019s wife Evelyn \u201cEvie\u201d McGee-Colbert appeared on screen, Cohen joked, \u201cEvie is the top in their relationship, I found out this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m a bossy bottom,\u201d Colbert replied.<\/p>\n

A shocked Anderson responded, \u201cHas Heated Rivalry made everyone insane?! Is this a Heated Rivalry effect? What is going on?\u201d<\/p>\n

The trio also played a spirited game of \u201cNever Have I Ever,\u201d during which Colbert admitted to sometimes forgetting that a celebrity had already appeared on his show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve forgotten they were a guest on my show while they were a guest on my show,\u201d the comedian confessed while Anderson giggled in the background. \u201cI\u2019ve literally said to a guest, \u2018It\u2019s great to finally talk to you,\u2019 and they\u2019ve said, \u2018This is my third time on your show.’\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI\u2019ve forgotten what I asked the guest while they were answering the question!\u201d<\/p>\n
