{"id":385609,"date":"2026-01-01T23:00:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T23:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/385609\/"},"modified":"2026-01-01T23:00:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T23:00:12","slug":"oman-lines-up-projects-worth-almost-1bn-to-boost-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/385609\/","title":{"rendered":"Oman lines up projects worth almost $1bn to boost growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agbi.com\/economy\/2025\/06\/oman-economy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oman<\/a> has awarded projects worth OMR363 million ($940 million) as part of efforts to boost growth and spark job creation in 2026, the sultanate\u2019s economy minister said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The projects, which include road construction, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and food processing, will be carried out from the first quarter of this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese projects will boost the economy, diversify the government\u2019s income and have the potential to create thousands of jobs,\u201d the minister, Said Al Saqri, told Oman Television.<\/p>\n<p>He added that his ministry is now targeting job creation for Omani nationals at a rate of 35,000 a year \u201cfrom project investments across the country\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also expecting the Omani economy to grow by 2.6 percent in 2026 compared to 2.2 percent in 2025,\u201d Al Saqri added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The government is heavily dependent on oil and gas revenue, which makes up more than 70 percent of national income.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The sultanate\u2019s crude <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agbi.com\/economy\/2025\/12\/oman-gdp-rises-on-the-back-of-growing-non-oil-revenues\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">oil revenues<\/a> in the first nine months of 2025 fell 2.2 percent year on year to $27.6 billion on lower selling prices, while gas income surged 53 percent to $6.7 billion on rising domestic demand.<\/p>\n<p>Further reading:<\/p>\n<p>About 57,000 Omanis found jobs between January and November in the private and government sectors, an average of over 5,180 a month, the manpower ministry said.
