{"id":385710,"date":"2026-01-02T00:05:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T00:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/385710\/"},"modified":"2026-01-02T00:05:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T00:05:12","slug":"marc-marquez-assesses-his-ducati-future-beyond-2026-motogp-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/385710\/","title":{"rendered":"Marc Marquez assesses his Ducati future beyond 2026 MotoGP season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nine-time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/motogp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/marc-marquez\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Marquez<\/a> will be a key figure in the rider transfer market ahead of the 2027 regulation shakeup.<\/p>\n<p>Marquez is among the majority of the grid whose contracts expire at the end of the standard two-year MotoGP contract cycle.<\/p>\n<p>The 2027 regulations represent a major overhaul, including the removal of ride-height devices, a reduction in engine capacity from 1,000cc to 850cc, and a switch from Michelin to Pirelli tyres.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard hasn\u2019t completely ruled out a move away from Ducati at the end of 2026, with reports linking him to a return to Honda, where he spent a decade with the Japanese marque.<\/p>\n<p>On his future, Marquez stated to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpone.com\/en\/2025\/12\/19\/motogp\/marc-marquez-the-desire-to-stay-in-ducati-from-one-to-10-its-8-for-me.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GPone<\/a>: \u201cFor next year [2026], it\u2019s clear that we\u2019ll have the fastest bike, which is the most important thing. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor 2027-2028, however, everything is still up in the air; everything will be open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if you look at me, I\u2019m happy, I\u2019m fast, and I\u2019m winning, I\u2019ve tried not to move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the priority is to be fast, and in Ducati\u00a0you can be that, but I\u2019ll also have to understand many things and decide what\u2019s best for my future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, when asked to rate his desire to remain in factory red on a scale of one to ten, he replied: \u201cI don\u2019t know, for my side I would say eight, we are working to win, and all sides want that, and that\u2019s very important in my view of 2027-2028.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Adobe-Express-file-20-1024x576.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-222865\"  \/>Marc Marquez discusses the 2027 MotoGP rider market \u2013 Credit: Ducati Media House<\/p>\n<p>Marc Marquez: 2027 MotoGP rider market the \u2018most difficult\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Marquez believes the rider market ahead of the 2027 MotoGP season will be the \u201cmost difficult\u201d due to the multiple unknowns presented by the new regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The reigning champion added that riders will need to trust their gut based on the available data to make the best decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be an interesting 2026 season and not only on the championship, on the race track, but also outside the race track, in the paddock, between the tracks,\u201d Marquez told MotoGP.com.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be the most difficult market, during all my career in MotoGP \u2013 we never changed the rules;
