The NFL is announcing some news that’s more embarrassment for the Detroit Lions, who fell out of the playoffs on December 25.<\/p>\n
The Detroit Lions<\/a> are entering their final game of the season with an 8-8 record<\/a> and, unfortunately, no trip to the postseason<\/a>. It\u2019s a vast contrast to the team\u2019s 2024-25 season<\/a>, when the Lions were at the top of the entire NFC going into the playoffs.<\/p>\n But, that\u2019s all in the past, and this team has talented players and a bright future. So, it\u2019s time for the Detroit Lions to do some soul-searching, but before then, they have one final game on Sunday, January 4, against none other than Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Lions and Bears competed against each other earlier in the season<\/a>, on September 14, and the Lions easily beat the Bears with a 52-21 final score<\/a>. But, with the Lions on a downward spiral and the Bears on an uphill trejectory, outside of the latter\u2019s loss to the 49ers<\/a> on December 28, this outcome may be very different.<\/p>\n The Lions fell out of the playoffs following their game on Christmas Day against the\u00a0Minnesota Vikings<\/a>, which they lost 23-10<\/a>. Now, it turns out that more people were watching the Lions\u2019 demise than expected, and that\u2019s kind of embarrassing.<\/p>\n Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings Game Brings More Embarrassment<\/p>\n We love our Detroit Lions, through thick and thin, but it\u2019s been a difficult year to cheer for the Honolulu Blue. Not many predicted such a quick fallout from head coach Dan Campbell losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, but the numbers say it all.<\/p>\n Now, the NFL has announced that the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings late afternoon game on Netflix has been crowned the most-streamed NFL game in U.S. history<\/a>. The game\u00a0averaged 27.5 million U.S. viewers, according to research from Nielsen. The audience also peaked at more than 30 million. That tops the 27.2 million average for last year\u2019s Christmas game on Netflix between the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> and Houston Texas in the same slot.<\/p>\n So, a whole lot of people were watching the Detroit Lions get pie in their face. But, everybody loves a comeback story, and the Lions are build on the idea of pride and comeback, so get ready for the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n \u201cThis year marked the second of a three-season partnership between Netflix and the NFL to broadcast NFL football games on Christmas Day,\u201d according to an official release from Netflix<\/a>.<\/p>\n Dan Campbell Says Detroit Lions Quarterback Jared Goff is Safe<\/p>\n For anyone who\u2019s questioning Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff\u2019s place with the team, don\u2019t. Campbell discussed quarterback Jared Goff<\/a> after the loss to the Vikings.<\/p>\n Campbell did an interview on 97.1 The Ticket<\/a> on Tuesday, December 30, and put to rest any Goff trade talk.\u00a0\u201cJared Goff is a stud. He\u2019s an absolute stud. We\u2019re fortunate to have him as a quarterback,\u201d Campbell said on the show. \u201cHe\u2019s a winning quarterback in this league. He played at a very high level all season long.\u201d<\/p>\n Campbell added of the signal-caller, \u201cHe played even better than he played the year before, and he\u2019s continued to play better. We\u2019re thankful to have him. I\u2019m thankful to have him. He\u2019s an absolute stud. He\u2019s a pro. He\u2019s going nowhere.\u201d<\/p>\n So, Goff isn\u2019t the question going into the 2026-27 season.
