{"id":386683,"date":"2026-01-02T10:56:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T10:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/386683\/"},"modified":"2026-01-02T10:56:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T10:56:07","slug":"red-sox-reportedly-sign-promising-minor-league-outfielder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/386683\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Sox Reportedly Sign Promising Minor League Outfielder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Boston Red Sox still <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/12\/red-sox-still-searching-for-first-free-agent-signing-of-offseason\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">haven\u2019t signed a Major League free agent<\/a> this offseason, but they did sign another Minor League one on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to MILB Central\u2019s Chase Ford, the Red Sox <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/_chaseford\/status\/2006932530893861090\" rel=\"nofollow\">reportedly signed<\/a> outfielder Matt Fraizer to a Minor League deal on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Fraizer, who turns 28 later this month, was a third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2019. He remained with the Pirates organization through 2025, appearing for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians in each of the last two seasons.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Boston Red Sox have signed OF Matt Fraizer to a minor league deal.<\/p>\n<p>Fraizer had a .305 batting average along with 22 extra-base hits this past season playing in the Pirates organization.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RedSox?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#RedSox<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chase Ford (@_chaseford) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_chaseford\/status\/2006932530893861090?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 2, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fraizer\u2019s second stint in Triple-A went much better than his first, as he improved his OPS from .730 to .813. In 62 games for the Indians last year, he batted .305\/.361\/.452 with 22 extra-base hits and 14 steals in 16 tries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nesn-in-content-ad__copy\">Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Based on that performance, Fraizer appears ready for the big leagues. Boston may not have room for him at the Major League level, however, given its <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/10\/craig-breslow-has-surprising-take-on-red-soxs-outfield-logjam\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">current logjam of outfielders<\/a>.
