FAA had warned US commercial flights of ‘military activity’<\/p>\n
The Federal Aviation Administration banned US commercial flights in Venezuelan airspace over “ongoing military activity” ahead of explosions in Caracas.<\/p>\n
The FAA’s NOTAM warning, known as a “Notice to Airmen,” came shortly after 1am east coast of the US (5pm AEDT). It warned all commercial and private US pilots that the airspace over Venezuela and the small island nation of Curacao, just off the coast of the country to the north, was off-limits “due to safety-of-flight risks associated with ongoing military activity”.<\/p>\n

Flight tracking site Flightradar24 posted a screenshot showing aircraft avoiding Venezuelan airspace.<\/p>\n
The warnings are designed to alert pilots to a variety of dangers.<\/p>\n

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects, condemns, and denounces before the international community the extremely grave military aggression carried out by the current Government of the United States of America against Venezuelan territory and population, targeting civilian and military locations in the city of Caracas, the capital of the Republic, and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.<\/p>\n
The objective of this attack is none other than to seize Venezuela\u2019s strategic resources, particularly its oil and minerals, in an attempt to forcibly break the Nation\u2019s political independence. They will not succeed.<\/p>\n
