Over the summer, he declined his second-year player option with the Denver Nuggets<\/a>. The guard noted that the Nuggets preferred he hit the open market. Therefore, he opted out and waited for his next opportunity, which didn\u2019t come until October.<\/p>\n

The Sacramento Kings added Westbrook after the preseason had already started. They initially planned to use the veteran guard as Dennis Schroder\u2019s backup, but it wouldn\u2019t be long before Westbrook was inserted into the Kings\u2019 starting five. Chris Paul is behind Curry with a little over 23,000. He is expected to call it a career after the 2025-2026 season, which should keep him out of reach for Westbrook\u2019s record.<\/p>\n

Westbrook is currently in the midst of his 18th season in the NBA. He spent 11 years with the Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a>.
