{"id":389072,"date":"2026-01-03T13:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T13:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/389072\/"},"modified":"2026-01-03T13:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T13:36:09","slug":"dysons-hawks-lock-down-knicks-at-msg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/389072\/","title":{"rendered":"Dyson&#8217;s Hawks lock down Knicks at MSG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Daniels and Atlanta got one back on the Knicks after a nail-biting loss just a week ago<\/p>\n<p>Who said the Great Barrier Thief couldn&#8217;t stop Jalen Brunson?<\/p>\n<p>Today, he proved it, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/player\/dyson-daniels\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dyson Daniels<\/a> led an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/news\/atlanta-hawks-nba-profile-five-things-you-need-to-know\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta Hawks<\/a> lockdown of the New York Knicks at the Madison\u00a0Square Garden &#8211; limiting the Eastern Conference contenders and last year&#8217;s conference finalists to their lowest score of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Dyson and the Hawks kept the Mike Brown-coached Knicks to under 100 for the first time this season with Daniels holding Brunson to 24 points off 10-from-23 shooting, 1-from-8 from distance and most importantly, only three free-throw attempts.<\/p>\n<p>The victory at the world&#8217;s most famous arena avenged a tight 128-125 loss to New York at State Farm Arena on December 28, where Brunson had 34 points, sparking comments across social media about the defending Most Improved Player&#8217;s ability to guard the Knicks point guard.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels&#8217; performance helped Atlanta record its 17th win of the season and second straight.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/6958ab018ee212461272e3e3_GettyImages-2253808945.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\"\/>Dyson Daniels #5 of the Atlanta Hawks drives to the basket during the game against the New York Knicks on January 3, 2026 (AEDT)\u00a0at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. Butler\/NBAE via Getty Images<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/games\/indiana-pacers-v-san-antonio-spurs-02-01-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA BOX SCORE: Indiana Pacers vs San Antonio Spurs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Highflying Aussie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/player\/johnny-furphy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Johnny Furphy<\/a> played 14 minutes for seven points as the Indiana Pacers fell to a 123-113 loss at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to the rising San Antonio Spurs.<\/p>\n<p>Furphy went 3-from-6 from the field and 1-from-4 from the three-point line but was a -12 in his minutes.<\/p>\n<p>De&#8217;Aaron Fox had 24 points for the victorious Spurs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/games\/cleveland-cavaliers-v-denver-nuggets-02-01-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA\u00a0BOX SCORE: Cleveland Cavaliers vs Denver Nuggets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sydney point guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/player\/tyrese-proctor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyrese Proctor<\/a> played five minutes as the Cleveland Cavaliers recorded a 113-108 win over an undermanned Denver Nuggets side at Rocket Arena.<\/p>\n<p>Proctor didn&#8217;t record a stat in those minutes but it was a significant victory for the inconsistent Cavaliers despite the absence of several\u00a0Nuggets stars, including superstar Nikola Jokic.<\/p>\n<p>Donovan Mitchell led the scoring for Cleveland with 33 points.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/games\/new-york-knicks-v-atlanta-hawks-02-01-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA BOX\u00a0SCORE:\u00a0New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/player\/dyson-daniels\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dyson Daniels<\/a> was on triple-double watch again as the Atlanta Hawks upset the New York Knicks 111-99 at Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels had 11 points (5-from-8 FG), eight assists and six rebounds as the visitors used dominant second and third quarters to beat the Eastern Conference contenders on their home floor without Trae Young.<\/p>\n<p>The Aussie Boomers star also had two steals in the game.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/games\/chicago-bulls-v-orlando-magic-02-01-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA\u00a0BOX\u00a0SCORE: Chicago Bulls vs Orlando Magic<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Australian point guard Josh Giddey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/news\/josh-giddey-hamstring-injury-bulls-timberwolves-2026-status\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">missed his first game since suffering a hamstring strain<\/a> and is expected to be missing from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball.com.au\/news\/chicago-bulls-nba-profile-five-things-you-need-to-know\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Bulls<\/a> line-up for at least two weeks. Landale finished 14 points on 5-from-7 from the field to go with five boards.
