{"id":389438,"date":"2026-01-03T17:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T17:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/389438\/"},"modified":"2026-01-03T17:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T17:55:11","slug":"giant-france-lock-romain-taofifenua-makes-u-turn-on-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/389438\/","title":{"rendered":"Giant France lock Romain Taofifenua makes u-turn on retirement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Romain Taofifenua is set to extend his stay at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/racing-92\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Racing 92<\/a> with the experienced second row expected to sign a new two-year deal through to 2028 \u2013 RugbyPass understands.<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old has won 59 caps for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/france\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">France<\/a> and was coming to the end of his current contract this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The extension will see the 6\u20198, 138kg lock remain in the Hauts-de-Seine until the ripe old age of 37 years and nine months old.<\/p>\n<p>Taofifenua joined Racing in 2024 from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/lyon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lyon<\/a> and has been a regular presence in the engine room since his arrival.
