{"id":390966,"date":"2026-01-04T11:39:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T11:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/390966\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T11:39:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T11:39:07","slug":"dani-pedrosa-believes-2027-motogp-rules-will-give-more-control-back-to-riders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/390966\/","title":{"rendered":"Dani Pedrosa believes 2027 MotoGP rules \u201cwill give more control back to riders\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KTM MotoGP test rider Dani Pedrosa believes the 2027 regulations \u201cwill give more control back to riders\u201d, especially at the start of races.<\/p>\n<p>This year represents the final season of the current 1000cc engine formula, which has been raced since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>In its place will come 850cc engines, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> will strip back aerodynamics and outlaw ride height devices.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to make the bikes safer but also better to race with, as years of aero and ride height device development have negatively impacted the on-track spectacle.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps most significantly, in 2027, Pirelli will replace Michelin as the official tyre supplier.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Pedrosa, a 31-time MotoGP race winner, has already tested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/red-bull-ktm-factory-racing\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">KTM<\/a>\u2019s 850cc engine prototype and sampled Pirelli\u2019s new rubber.<\/p>\n<p>On the new bike regulations, Pedrosa believes the riders will now have greater control over what they do, which will lead to less predictable starts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s important,\u201d he said of the new regulations in an interview with the Spanish edition of Motorsport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new rules will give more control back to the riders and make the starts less predictable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, they\u2019re quite predictable. [With the 2027 rules], more positions can be made up.
