UAB Health System has acquired another major central Alabama health care provider.<\/p>\n
Southview Medical Group, which sees more than 51,000 unique patients and logs more than 130,000 patient visits annually, is now part of the UAB Health System. <\/p>\n
The deal was finalized Jan. 1. Financial details have not been disclosed. <\/p>\n
The multi-specialty practice, in business for more than 100 years, has more than 30 providers in multiple fields, including internal medicine, cardiology, infectious disease and other areas. <\/p>\n
Southview Medical Group President Noah Fitzpatrick said patients \u201cwill continue seeing their trusted providers while gaining access to UAB\u2019s broader network of specialists, advanced technology and comprehensive care options.\u201d<\/p>\n
Southview was originally known as Southside Medical Group and Lakeview Internal Medicine before the two entities merged in 1994. <\/p>\n
\u201cSouthview Medical Group has delivered exceptional care to Birmingham and central Alabama since 1922,\u201d UAB St. Vincent\u2019s Birmingham CEO Kenny Shafer said. <\/p>\n
\u201cAccess to primary and specialty care remains one of our region\u2019s most pressing challenges, and we are committed to improving that.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to a news release, UAB Health System will assume ownership of Southview Medical Group\u2019s network of providers and facilities, including its locations at UAB St. Vincent\u2019s Birmingham and UAB Medicine St. Vincent\u2019s One Nineteen. <\/p>\n
UAB<\/a> acquired St. Vincent\u2019s hospitals in 2024 in a $450 million deal.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThis agreement combines that tradition with the resources and innovation of an academic health system,\u201d UAB Health System CEO Dawn Bulgarella said in a statement. \u201cIt also strengthens UAB Medicine\u2019s ability to provide seamless access to primary care, improve care coordination, and ensure patients benefit from the full spectrum of services \u2014 from prevention to advanced treatment \u2014 right here in Birmingham.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"UAB Health System has acquired another major central Alabama health care provider.
