We’re one month away from the NBA trade deadline. The Golden State Warriors are among the teams expected to be active in the trade market, especially if they’re looking to upgrade their roster in pursuit of a championship push. And while we’re not expecting a move on the scale of last year, when Jimmy Butler arrived in the Bay Area, it’s clear that something needs to change with Steve Kerr’s team.<\/p>\n
According to CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn, <\/a>one deal that could both move the needle and be viable would be acquiring Michael Porter Jr. from the Brooklyn Nets<\/a>. Porter Jr. is having a stellar year for the Eastern Conference strugglers, averaging 25.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, while shooting 49.5% from the field and 40.8% from deep.<\/p>\n “The Warriors could get him while keeping Curry, Butler and\u00a0Draymond Green, giving them a pretty interesting four-man core that pairs Butler and Green’s defense and grit with elite shooting from Curry and Porter,” Quinn wrote. “The Warriors gave up draft capital for Butler last winter. We’re betting they’ll do the same for Porter this year.”<\/p>\n Porter Jr. would add some size to Golden State’s front court. Furthermore, he would be another high-level scorer who can also pitch in on the glass and play a role defensively. His presence would provide Golden State with some much-needed rotation flexibility and allow Steve Kerr some additional scoring options for when Curry is off the floor.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Prying Porter Jr. away from Brooklyn won’t be easy. However, it also won’t be impossible.
