Channel Seven reporter Christie Cooper has announced she has stepped down from her role with the network.<\/p>\n

The Melbourne-based journalist revealed the news on her LinkedIn page, confirming the end of her employment with the channel and revealed she was already working on a new project.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“After 13 years at the Seven Network (with a break in between), I’ve officially handed in my resignation,” Cooper began.<\/p>\n

“I’m excited for what’s to come in 2026. I’ll be working on getting my new business, Growing Healthier Futures, off the ground, while continuing to freelance as a journalist, presenter, producer and chief of staff.”<\/p>\n

Cooper revealed she will be back on TV screens in the coming weeks as part of the presenting team for the Australian Open in Melbourne.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Starting off with a whirlwind two weeks covering the AO for Tennis Australia,” she continued.<\/p>\n

“To anyone out there looking for freelancers in the TV, radio or print industries, I’d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n

“I’m especially keen to take on more investigative journalism work and longer-form content production.<\/p>\n

“To everyone I’ve worked with over the years at Seven, thank you for trusting me with your stories. Bring on 2026!”<\/p>\n

Cooper’s former colleagues rushed to share messages of support to the broadcaster and wish her the best for her future project.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Well done – thanks for being so welcoming to me as a cadet all those years ago and for being a kind and supportive mum-friend and colleague ever since. Can’t wait to see the new business take off,” fellow Seven reporter Estelle Griepink commented.<\/p>\n

“Very best wishes Christie for what I am certain will be a successful future,” ex-News director at Seven Melbourne Steve Carey wrote.<\/p>\n

“I’m sure the experience and knowledge you’ve gained covering and producing news with serve you well and benefit those fortunate enough to work with you. Congrats!”<\/p>\n

Cooper began her career with Seven as a local Melbourne reporter back in January 2021 and\u00a0quickly became known for her upbeat nature when delivering different news reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As well as reporting on local crime and human interest stories, Cooper developed a reputation for sharing uplifting “green thumb” reports.<\/p>\n
