<\/a><\/p>\nEntering any new AFL<\/a> season comes with a level of pressure and scrutiny, but it can rise to astronomical heights if you’re fighting for your career.<\/p>\n Heading into the 2026 campaign, over 300 players have yet to have their futures confirmed. However, the majority of those are more than likely to remain at their current club, seek a new opportunity or hang up the boots.<\/p>\n This leaves a host of players in contract limbo, and their efforts in the new season will determine where they will be next year…<\/p>\n Chayce Jones<\/p>\n Adelaide’s\u00a0Chayce Jones will be one to watch after featuring only five times under Matthew Nicks<\/a> in 2025.<\/p>\n Jones joined the Crows as a top-10 selection in 2018, but has struggled to cement his spot in the senior side as a small defender, with the likes of Josh Worrell<\/a>, Wayne Milera<\/a>, Rory Laird<\/a> and Mitch Hinge keeping him out of the side.<\/p>\n The Tasmanian product doesn’t hold a deal beyond this season, and despite his obvious links to the incoming Devils, he may face a year in football limbo.<\/p>\n His teammate,\u00a0Luke Pedlar, has also faced turmoil, but for differing reasons, with his body more often than not letting him down.<\/p>\n At his best, Pedlar is a starter for Adelaide, but has played 39 games in five years, with 21 of those matches played in 2023.<\/p>\n Key defender\u00a0Jordon Butts found himself on the outer after suffering an injury, and struggled to replace Mark Keane<\/a>, Nick Murray<\/a> and Worrell.<\/p>\n
