\nIntelligence, said:\n<\/p>\n
“Lacklustre business activity growth continued across
\nthe UK service sector at the end of 2025. Moreover, the
\nspeed of expansion was softer than signalled by the
\nearlier ‘flash’ survey in December and lower than seen
\non average in the second half of the year.\n<\/p>\n
“The most positive development was a renewed upturn
\nin new business intakes, following a slight decline during
\nNovember. Modest growth of incoming new work was
\nattributed to tentative signs of a recovery in client
\nconfidence after an extended period of pre-Budget
\ngloom. Order books were also supported by a marginal
\nrebound in export sales.\n<\/p>\n
“However, survey respondents still noted sales
\nheadwinds linked to weak UK economic prospects,
\nalongside challenging operating conditions due to
\nfactors such as sharply rising business costs and soft
\ndemand in major overseas markets. Worries about
\nsqueezed margins and broader growth prospects
\ncontributed to another marked reduction in service
\nsector employment during December.\n<\/p>\n
“Meanwhile, inflationary pressures across the service
\neconomy strengthened at the end of the year. Input
\nprices rose to the greatest extent for seven months, and
\noutput charge inflation rebounded from November’s
