Chevy Chase can\u2019t help himself. <\/p>\n
The 82-year-old \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d alum snapped at the director of his new CNN documentary, <\/a>\u201cI\u2019m Chevy Chase and You\u2019re Not,\u201d sparking a big reaction from fans on social media.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just trying to figure you out,\u201d director Marina Zenovich told Chase just minutes into the film, which was released New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n Chevy Chase in his new CNN documentary. Getty Images for CNN<\/p>\n \u201cWell, you asked,\u201d Chase said. \u201cI know you\u2019re not gonna put that on the air, and I hope not.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut my answer is, I\u2019m complex, and I\u2019m deep and I can be hurt easily,\u201d the comedian went on. \u201cAnd I react spontaneously to people who want to figure me out, as it were. As somebody who will hold up my guard, I\u2019m not gonna let anybody figure me out, per se.\u201d<\/p>\n Chase\u2019s behavior was not received well on social media.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat an insufferable old goat,\u201d one fan wrote on X<\/a> about Chase.<\/p>\n Chevy Chase doing an interview during his documentary. Getty Images for CNN<\/p>\n Chase authorized the new documentary that covers the comedy legend\u2019s career, from his rise on \u201cSNL\u201d in 1975 to his fall when he got\u00a0fired from \u201cCommunity\u201d in 2013 for using a racial slur<\/a>.<\/p>\n Chase reportedly used the N-word\u00a0<\/a>while disputing his character\u2019s direction during a \u201cCommunity\u201d scene, involving him using a \u201cblackface\u201d hand puppet. Getty Images for CNN<\/p>\n During the doc, the \u201cCaddyshack\u201d actor addressed how he has a reputation for being \u201cdifficult.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know what to say about the people who don\u2019t like me, except f \u2013k \u2019em,\u201d he stated. \u201cWhat can you say about something like that? I can\u2019t say they\u2019re misunderstanding me. Because maybe they\u2019re not, by their standard. I just prefer to be liked, not disliked \u2014 like all of us.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Chevy Chase.
