\u201cThen you have George, who is the chairman of selectors. Does he have the gravitas or the leadership skills to tell Andrew McDonald and Steve Smith or Pat Cummins what to do? He should do, 100 per cent, but I don\u2019t think he does.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking during the middle session on day three, Greenberg said the remarks were unnecessary and that he wanted to publicly defend Bailey, Allsopp and Cricket Australia\u2019s high-performance team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose comments I thought were out of order,\u201d Greenberg said. \u201cWhen I see criticism of him [Allsopp], I think it touches on the personal criticism. I thought that was unwarranted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was made very clear to me that they were not comments attributed to Cricket NSW. They were comments attributed to Stuart personally.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to get into a war of words with Stuart because I\u2019ve got very high regard for him, but when I think that someone\u2019s got it wrong, I\u2019ll say it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Greenberg said he raised the issue directly with Clark, noting his position of influence within the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn this occasion, I thought he overstepped the mark by talking not just about the decisions, but individually about people,\u201d Greenberg said. \u201cI thought that was personal. I said that to him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked how the exchange played out, Greenberg, a former NRL chief executive, said: \u201cThat\u2019s up to Stuart [to elaborate on]. I said, \u2018I don\u2019t want to get into days and days of us going at each other\u2019. But even when mates or friends or contacts get it wrong, I\u2019m going to tell him. I\u2019ve dealt with much bigger ones than this one, so it\u2019s not the end of the world.<\/p>\n
