\n\tSebastian Stan may be headed for Gotham City. The Oscar-nominated star of \u201cThe Apprentice\u201d is in talks to join Robert Pattinson<\/a> in DC Studios\u2019 \u201cThe Batman Part II.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStan is no stranger to costumed heroes and villains, having played Bucky Barnes\/The Winter Soldier in numerous Marvel movies. It\u2019s unclear who he will be playing in the upcoming Dark Knight adventure and whether he will be an adversary or an ally to Bruce Wayne. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe long-awaited superhero sequel, directed by Matt Reeves<\/a>, is expected to begin shooting next spring for an October 2027 theatrical release from Warner Bros. \u201cThe Batman\u201d opened in theaters in March 2022 and grossed $772 million at the worldwide box office.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Batman Part II,\u201d written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, recently added Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson<\/a> to an already star-studded supporting cast, with Colin Farrell returning as Oz Cobb (aka The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan is also expected to appear once more as the Joker. Johansson<\/a> and Stan worked together in several Avengers adventures. He also previously appeared alongside Pattinson in \u201cThe Devil All the Time,\u201d a slice of Southern gothic that debuted on Netflix in 2020.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Batman Part II\u201d has endured a long gestation as Reeves has worked to top his critically acclaimed and gritty first take on the comic book adventure. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited. I\u2019m really proud of the script me and Mattson did,\u201d Reeves told Variety at the Emmys in September.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe filmmaker also revealed the lengths to which \u201cThe Batman\u201d team went to keep the story under wraps. \u201cWe put [the script] into a secret pouch that literally has a lock on it with a code. [Pattinson] was in New York at the time, and everything is high security.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile \u201cThe Batman Part II\u201d isn\u2019t officially part of the newly relaunched DCU, it is still being developed under James Gunn and Peter Safran\u2019s DC Studios banner. The new cinematic superhero universe kicked off last summer with \u201cSuperman,\u201d which grossed $615 million worldwide. \u201cSupergirl\u201d flies into theaters next <\/a>(on June 26), followed by \u201cClayface\u201d (dated for Sept. 2026) the \u201cSuperman\u201d sequel \u201cMan of Tomorrow\u201d<\/a> (July 2027) and a new \u201cWonder Woman\u201d movie that\u2019s in the works. <\/p>\n

\n\tStan most recently appeared in \u201cThunderbolts*,\u201d an MCU feature that disappointed at the box office. His credits include \u201cI, Tonya\u201d and \u201cA Different Man.\u201d He will next appear in \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d and in the thriller, \u201cFjord.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDC Studios had no comment on the casting. Stan is repped by CAA and B-Side Management.
