But the world number seven is keen to put that result behind her by making a big statement against Emma Raducanu<\/a>, one of her best friends on the WTA Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n Amanda Anisimova<\/a> played Raducanu for the third time, and each match has taken place in 2025.<\/p>\n Raducanu won their matches in Australian and Miami<\/a>, so Anisimova was keen to beat her friend for the first time when they clashed at the Canadian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, she surged into a 3-1 lead and proceeded to win three of the next four games to take the opening set.<\/p>\n Raducanu, who managed to hold serve just once in either set, claimed a solitary game in set two before succumbing to a 2-6, 1-6 defeat.<\/p>\n Post-match, Anisimova explained the court conditions and how the feelings from having the best season of her career helped her defeat Raducanu, who she spoke highly of post-match.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, I was coming into this tournament feeling confident. I had a good season and I feel like my game really suits the hard courts here,\u201d the American said.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like I played really well. Emma is such a tough player and she is in such good form. We have had a lot of tough battles so I\u2019m just happy to be through this one, but it\u2019s not easy playing her.\u201d<\/p>\n Anisimova showed how dangerous she can be in Canada when she reached the final a year ago.<\/p>\n She picked up victories against the likes of Emma Navarro<\/a> and Aryna Sabalenka<\/a>, before Jessica Pegula ended Anisimova\u2019s run in Toronto<\/a>.<\/p>\n She aims to go one step further this season and claim the title in front of the fans in Montreal, who Anisimova had some kind words about.<\/p>\n \u201cThe atmosphere here today was incredible,\u201d Anisimova said. \u201cI love playing here in Canada and I am just so happy to be here for another day.
