{"id":397156,"date":"2026-01-07T09:12:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T09:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/397156\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T09:12:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T09:12:11","slug":"york-knights-owner-hails-impressive-man-mark-applegarth-total-rugby-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/397156\/","title":{"rendered":"York Knights owner hails \u2018impressive man\u2019 Mark Applegarth \u2013 Total Rugby League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totalrl.com\/york-knights-owner-hails-impressive-man-mark-applegarth\/\" title=\"Permanent Link to York Knights owner hails \u2018impressive man\u2019 Mark Applegarth\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img width=\"675\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/ApplegarthMark-LHAL-HSF-CH-675x360.jpg\" class=\"bestwp-post-thumbnail-single wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MARK APPLEGARTH is \u201can impressive man\u201d according to York Knights chairman Clint Goodchild.<\/p>\n<p>Applegarth took over at the Knights midway through the 2024 Championship season.<\/p>\n<p>And with a full pre-season under his belt, the former Wakefield coach led York to the League Leaders\u2019 Shield, 1895 Cup success and the second-tier Grand Final, although his side fell to Toulouse in the showpiece event.<\/p>\n<p>Applegarth\u2019s stock as a coach is quickly rising following a baptism of fire in Super League with Wakefield, and he now gets a second chance in the top-flight to show what he is made of.<\/p>\n<p>York earned promotion to Super League as one of the 14 teams in the newly-expanded competition through an independent panel.<\/p>\n<p>And Goodchild has backed him to continue his rise, adding: \u201cMark is a very capable coach and he is only getting started in his career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is improving each week. He challenges himself to get better and I think that\u2019s why he has such a positive influence on the playing group, because they know how hard he is working to be a better coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t help but want to be better for someone like that.
