A foreign national has had his visa cancelled and is facing deportation from Australia, amid claims of links to the “White Australia” movement.<\/p>\n

The ABC understands the man is a UK national who has been living in Perth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A senior member of the WA branch of the “White Australia” movement posted on social media that\u00a0the man, described as \u201cone of our men and good friends\u201d,\u00a0had been\u00a0detained by immigration authorities\u00a0on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The ABC understands\u00a0the man’s\u00a0visa was cancelled on character grounds and he is being held in immigration detention.<\/p>\n

The post claimed\u00a0he\u00a0had not broken any laws\u00a0or participated in activism\u00a0but was being deported because he “does boxing on the weekend with other white men”.<\/p>\n

It’s understood\u00a0the man\u00a0had lived in Australia for some years and had moved to WA from the east coast.<\/p>\n

When contacted, Immigration Minister Tony Burke issued a short statement saying the government had “zero tolerance for bigotry and hate”.<\/p>\n

“If you don’t like Australia you can leave,” Mr Burke said.<\/p>\n

The deportation follows that of\u00a0South African Matthew Gruter<\/a>\u00a0who, in an separate case,\u00a0was kicked out of the country after attending an anti-Semitic rally outside NSW Parliament organised by the neo-Nazi movement the National Socialist Network in November.<\/p>\n
