Not only is Savannah Guthrie<\/a> taking a break from Today<\/a>, but she\u2019s also taking a break from speaking.<\/p>\n

The NBC anchor is on vocal rest after undergoing surgery<\/a> to remove vocal nodules and a polyp earlier this month. Guthrie gave fans a glimpse into her silent recovery in a series of Tuesday, January 6, Instagram Story posts, two of which featured the dry-erase board Sheinelle Jones<\/a> gifted her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe kids have fully taken over the white board<\/p>\n

,\u201d Guthrie wrote alongside a snap of the board, which featured a picture of the family\u2019s house drawn by one of her kids. \u201cBut all for love<\/p>\n

,\u201d she added in a follow-up pic, which featured a drawing of a bouquet of flowers on the board. Alongside the flowers, her daughter, Vale, wrote, \u201cFlowers for you. Get well soon! In addition to the dry-erase board, Guthrie revealed another surprising tool she\u2019s using to communicate with her loved ones. \u201cHilarious and useful gift from friend \u2013 yes and no buttons,\u201d she captioned a video of the buttons, which each make a different noise. \u201cOne guess which is getting used more.\u201d<\/p>\n

While recovering at home, Guthrie has been keeping herself occupied with a solo version of the game Mahjong. \u201cI mean \u2013 silent for a week why not,\u201d she wrote alongside a snap of the game in another Instagram Story post.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Guthrie confirmed that she had undergone her surgery by taking a selfie with her dry-erase board. \u201cSee you soon!<\/p>\n

,\u201d she captioned the Monday, January 5, Instagram<\/a> post. On the board, Guthrie wrote, \u201cAll good! Thanks for prayers and love!\u201d<\/p>\n

The December 19 episode of Today marked Guthrie\u2019s last day before beginning her medical leave. \u201cIt\u2019s not a big, big deal, but I am gonna have to have a surgery real early in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks,\u201d she explained on the show.<\/p>\n

Jones gifted Guthrie the dry-erase board, noting that she used the item while recovering from a similar surgery she underwent in 2020. Jones went on to tell Guthrie that her time off would grant her \u201cpermission to be still,\u201d adding, \u201cThe house gets quiet. The kids are gonna want to help you out. This is what I had in my house, and now, my friend, I\u2019m passing it to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guthrie said she was \u201creally excited\u201d about the procedure,\u201d telling viewers, \u201cThis has been going on for years, honestly. \u2026 I used to be able to sing, and then I couldn\u2019t sing anymore, and then I couldn\u2019t speak anymore. So, who knows? The tour\u2019s happening in 2026. Let\u2019s go!\u201d<\/p>\n
