I guess it\u2019s not for me to announce something like that on behalf of someone, because they\u2019re the ones that have got to walk back into the locker room.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t speak to how other coaches will go about that, but what I can say is how we would go about it \u2013 and I guess in that instance, we\u2019d choose not to make that sort of announcement. I don\u2019t feel like that\u2019s our role to do that.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile I didn\u2019t necessarily read all the headlines around Oscar (Allen), I believe he came under a fair bit of heat \u2013 and I think that\u2019s probably a very good reason why we just temper the reason to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n Collingwood\u2019s strong interest in Silvagni means the defender might\u2019ve played his last game for Carlton, with Voss confirming his player was likely to miss the rest of the season due to groin issues.<\/p>\n \u201cUnfortunately it\u2019s taken a fair bit of time for him to be able to recover from those groins and it\u2019s been a very slow recovery process,\u201d Voss said.<\/p>\n Legend’s advice for Curnow amid rumours | 01:14<\/p>\n \u201cJack\u2019s had a really important role shift this year. It\u2019s been a real win for us to see where he\u2019s gone from forward to back.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to be really clear: He\u2019s a very important player for us. We value what he\u2019s done, we value him at the football club and we\u2019re certainly hoping he plays out the rest of his career with us.\u201d<\/p>\n Voss said he didn\u2019t feel the need to contact McRae \u2013 a Lions premiership teammate \u2013 about the meeting with Silvagni.<\/p>\n Asked how he\u2019d addressed the meeting with Silvagni, Voss said: \u201cI was surprised, but obviously I\u2019d already spoken to Jack about what was happening. It\u2019s unusual for a coach to announce something like that.<\/p>\n \u201cRegardless of what Craig did, it\u2019s not something we would do and we\u2019ll respect the privacy of the player.\u201d<\/p>\n Voss said any player in the same situation \u201chas the right\u201d to meet with other clubs, adding: \u201cWe hope the decision at the end of the day is he\u2019ll be with us.\u201d<\/p>\n Curnow set for surgery, out for season | 01:29<\/p>\n While Silvagni hasn\u2019t officially been ruled out for the season yet, star forward Charlie Curnow has been after undergoing a necessary clean-up of his knee.<\/p>\n \u201cHe needed it \u2026 He obviously pulled up quite sore from last week\u2019s game,\u201d Voss said.<\/p>\n \u201cAs the week went, it wasn\u2019t settling, so we investigated it. He wasn\u2019t going to play another game, he needed effectively four to six weeks off, so given the time frame of the season, the obvious thing to do was to send him in for an operation.\u201d<\/p>\n The Blues will attempt to salvage some late-season respect when they take on Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s going to be hard yakka,\u201d Voss said.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ve obviously spoken about the type of football they want to play. They pride themselves on real contest and pressure \u2026 it\u2019s something we\u2019d love to be able to bring ourselves.
