Horror movies tend to play better with headphones, and that\u2019s certainly the case for this undertone teaser \u2014 which consists of over two minutes of distorted audio.<\/p>\n

If you reverse the video\u2019s sound, you\u2019ll hear rendition of \u201cBaa, Baa, Black Sheep\u201d and a woman repeating \u201cI pray for you,\u201d along with various unintelligible voices and ominous sounds.<\/p>\n

A24 will release the official trailer for the slow-burn horror film tomorrow.<\/p>\n

It follows a paranormal podcast host who moves into her dying mother\u2019s house to be her primary caregiver. When she receives audio recordings of a young pregnant couple experiencing supernatural noises, she realizes the woman\u2019s story mirrors her own.<\/p>\n

Each new recording scratches at her sanity, drawing her into a fate she cannot escape.<\/p>\n

Writer-director Ian Tuason makes his feature debut on the film, which led to a gig helming the upcoming Paranormal Activity reboot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nina Kiri (\u201cThe Handmaid\u2019s Tale\u201d) stars as the only on-screen character, joined by the voices of\u00a0Kris Holden-Ried (\u201cThe Umbrella Academy\u201d), Mich\u00e8le Duquet (The Virgin Suicides), Keana Lyn Bastidas (\u201cThe Hardy Boys\u201d), and Jeff Yung (The Shrouds).<\/p>\n

Slaterverse Pictures\u2019 Dan Slater and Black Fawn Films\u2019 Cody Calahan produce. Executive producers include Steven Schneider and Roy Lee for Spooky Pictures, Chad Archibald for Black Fawn, Brit MacRae and Daril Fannin for Kino Studios, and DimensionGate.<\/p>\n

Joe Lipsett\u00a0wrote in his 4.5-skull review<\/a>, \u201cI can\u2019t remember the last time a movie made every hair on my body stand up, but undertone got me good.\u201d<\/p>\n

undertone premiered at last year\u2019s Fantasia Film Festival, igniting a seven-figure bidding war. It will have its\u00a0US premiere at Sundance<\/a> later this month.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
