Whether it be planning or dreaming up a holiday \u2014 Fiji is a destination on everyone\u2019s lips.<\/p>\n

And the attraction for honeymooners, families, friends and solo travellers to the overseas island paradise is clear.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a shorter flight than Perth from Australia\u2019s east coast, the people are the kindest going around, there are endless activities for both kids and adults and \u2018Fijian time\u2019 is really contagious and forces you to slow down and relax.<\/p>\n

Not to mention the crystal-clear ocean off pristine beaches that is hard to register as being real life when you see it.<\/p>\n

But, it can be tricky to figure out where to stay. Do you park at a five-star resort on the main island of Viti Levu or island hop?<\/p>\n

We spent three nights at The InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa<\/a>, which is located on Natadola Bay and is a 55-minute drive from Nadi International Airport.<\/p>\n

Here are all the reasons the Intercontinental gives you the best of both worlds.<\/p>\n

Nestled among 35 acres of tropical gardens, with a two-kilometre strech of beach, 266 rooms and suites, three swimming pools, spa, an 18-hole golf course, gym, kids\u2019 club and multiple restaurants and bars \u2014 The Intercontinental knows how to do a resort.<\/p>\n

All of the suites have king-sized beds and the options range from beachfront, lagoon, pool and garden view and one, two or three bedroom options.<\/p>\n

We stayed in the Club Intercontinental 115sqm one-bedroom suite, located at the very top of the resort, giving it an incredible view.<\/p>\n

It was fit with his-and-hers vanities in the bathroom, a complimentary mini-bar, an outdoor bathtub next to an undercover lounge area, a private grassed area with lounge chairs and the best addition of all \u2014 a private plunge pool.<\/p>\n

The cherry on top of the dream hotel room were all the added details.<\/p>\n

There were fruit platters waiting in the room for us when we arrived, an endless supply of Fiji water and each day we had a fun guessing game of what animal our bath towel would be expertly fashioned into.<\/p>\n

Another huge benefit of staying at the Club Intercontinental is access to its a la carte breakfast (that means you have three restaurant options for daily breakfast), an afternoon high tea and then daily sunset cocktails from 5pm to 7pm with the most stunning view over the infinity pool.<\/p>\n

The sunset cocktails also comes with snacks and is the perfect way to spend every evening before dinner.<\/p>\n

Another feature of the Intercontinental that must be experienced is the award-winning spa. It is truly incredible.<\/p>\n

For every spa treatment booked, guests have access to the Wai Zone, including a rain shower, ice shower, hydrotherapy pool and steam room and you can spend hours unwinding there.<\/p>\n

And when you\u2019re ready for an afternoon by the water, not only do you have the beach, but there are three pools to choose from \u2014 an adults only overlooking the beach, one for kids and an infinity pool at the top of the resort (if you\u2019re part of Club Intercontinental).<\/p>\n

We loved walking around the whole resort and soaking up the warmth, but if preferred you can organised to be picked up by a golf cart and driver at any location.<\/p>\n

The food<\/p>\n

There are multiple restaurants and cater for every vibe and every cuisine.<\/p>\n

Toba Bar & Grill is perfect for casual Fiji-style lunch and dinner and is located right next to one of the pools. It has a huge menu with dishes including pizzas, burgers, salads, grilled barramundi, rib-eye steak, pastas and plenty of vegan options. Some nights you\u2019ll be treated to live music too.<\/p>\n

Nearby there is Sanasana restaurant, which is buffet-style and features a different cuisine each night. Examples are Spices of India, Bella Italia, Asian Odyssey and Fijian Flair.<\/p>\n

A dinner restaurant that can\u2019t be missed is Navo, which overlooks the lagoon and serves fresh seafood. Stunning dishes include king crab with cucumber and grapefruit, textures of beetroot, barrumundi with sweet potato and mussel ragout and lobster thermidor.<\/p>\n

Navo and Sansana also serve daily breakfast.<\/p>\n

There is also Lai Lai Cafe near the family pool with its signature coconut coffee and desserts including cakes and an ice cream cart that is open late each night.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re after wine, beer, cocktails and bar snacks, the Kama Lounge & Bar is the perfect spot. At dusk you\u2019ll also have front row seats to the torch-lighting ceremony and traditional Fijian and South Pacific entertainment.<\/p>\n

At the time of publishing, the Intercontinental\u2019s one bedroom pool view costs AUD$475 per week night. The lagoon view costs $566, the beachfront is $640 and the Club Intercontinental with the plunge pool is $920 per night.<\/p>\n

In December, InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa was awarded Fiji\u2019s Best MICE Hotel for 2025 at the annual gala that rewards excellence in tourism. It follows previous wins for the resort in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024.<\/p>\n

And on experiencing it, it\u2019s easy to see the reasons behind the repeated wins.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never been a huge fan of the concept of staying at a resort for a whole holiday, but I\u2019m now converted and know the size, amenities and activities are key to making you not need \u2014 or want \u2014 to leave.<\/p>\n

The Intercontinental in Fiji does that better than anywhere and I can\u2019t wait for the next visit.<\/p>\n
