{"id":401413,"date":"2026-01-09T06:29:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T06:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/401413\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T06:29:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T06:29:09","slug":"senators-release-statement-denying-online-rumours-about-linus-ullmark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/401413\/","title":{"rendered":"Senators release statement denying online rumours about Linus Ullmark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/ottawa-senators\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"ottawa-senators\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> released a statement Thursday categorically denying online rumours regarding goaltender Linus Ullmark and his personal leave of absence. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our organization was completely disappointed to read the completely fabricated and false stories that are spreading around social media about our hockey club,&#8221; general manager Steve Staios said in a statement released by the team. &#8220;Linus is away from our team for personal reasons and he has the entire organizations support. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are disgusted that outside forces are attempting to disrupt our hockey club. This statement will put an end to the ridiculous speculation that has spread online.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rumours first surfaced on Thursday morning about the nature of Ullmark&#8217;s leave. <\/p>\n<p>Ullmark, 32, was granted a leave of absence from the team on Dec. 29. He has a 14-8-5 record this season with a .881 save percentage and 2.95 goals-against average.<\/p>\n<p>The Senators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/nhl\/article\/senators-sign-james-reimer-to-professional-tryout-amid-goalie-struggles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">also reportedly<\/a> signed goaltender James Reimer to a professional contract on Thursday.
