Travis Head was front and centre in the celebrations at Adelaide Oval<\/a>, but the player of the match in the fifth Ashes Test took a backseat of sorts as Australia capped off its final series victory in style at the Sydney Cricket Ground. <\/p>\n

While Head as the hometown hero took on the responsibilities in Adelaide as Australia sealed the urn in just 11 days, this time around the leading runs scorer said it was on the team\u2019s Sydneysiders to organise everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if I\u2019m fully the celebration guy,\u201d Head told the ABC, before nominating teammate Beau Webster as a potential candidate to take on the honour.<\/p>\n

\u201cI reckon Slug\u2019s got a twinkle in his eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said on stage, it\u2019s Sydney… I\u2019ll do Adelaide and I sorted it. It was a pretty good party in Adelaide… don\u2019t worry about that.<\/p>\n

\u201cSydney, it\u2019s going to be the Sydneysiders who organise it. But I reckon Slug\u2019s got a twinkle in his eye.\u201d<\/p>\n

Head also singled out Josh Inglis as a player to \u201cwatch out for\u201d as the celebrations continued into the night.<\/p>\n

Webster told reporters on Friday morning that there were a few \u201csore heads\u201d after the celebrations, although he called it a \u201cpretty subdued\u201d evening.<\/p>\n

He did have one nomination for \u2018Best on Ground\u2019: Michael Neser.<\/p>\n

Webster said the seamer was in \u201cpretty good form\u201d but added that because all the families were there it was \u201cmore of a celebration of all the hard work and sacrifices they make as well\u201d.<\/p>\n

To that effect, Head shared plenty of photos on his Instagram story of himself and family soaking up the moment. First, he posed for a photo with partner Jess in front of the SCG pavilion while also taking a moment to hold the urn with children Milla and Harrison.<\/p>\n

Both Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald were also pictured celebrating the series win.<\/p>\n

Beau Webster, Brendan Doggett and Josh Inglis, meanwhile, were captured chilling out on the Sydney outfield with beers in hand. <\/p>\n

It was a nice relaxed afternoon, which was capped off with a touching tribute to the retiring Usman Khawaja as the playing group belted out a stirring rendition of Underneath the Southern Cross I Stand on the 38-year-old\u2019s farewell sign.<\/p>\n

It was also later revealed that Australian and English players buried the hatchet by coming together post-series for drinks in the SCG pavilion<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It came after Australian players were left disappointed when England seemingly brushed them for the traditional post-Ashes drinks in 2023, although Ben Stokes later clarified they were held up by extended retirement presentations in the dressing room.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were good. They are a great bunch of lads,\u201d Webster said of the drinks with England\u2019s players at the SCG. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe play a lot of cricket against them and a lot of guys play with them in the county system and various T20 tournaments so everyone knows each other and it was a good moment. We spent a few hours in the SCG bar there just talking about the series, talking cricket and just having a beer with moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Head, on the other hand, delivered a cheeky sledge to Jamie Smith<\/a> when referencing the possibility of sharing drinks with England\u2019s players.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, I wonder what it\u2019d be like sitting in their dressing room sometimes and playing a pretty rank shot,\u201d Head joked to ABC after play. <\/p>\n
