Lakes Entrance Golf Club has enjoyed a strong start to the new year, with excellent course conditions and outstanding participation across the past week.<\/p>\n
Two competitions over the past seven days attracted sensational fields, while the course has remained busy on non-competition days with both members and visiting golfers making the most of the summer conditions.<\/p>\n
A New Year\u2019s Day medley stableford drew a field of 120 players, with the course presented in superb condition. \u201cB\u201d grade golfer Neil McKenna claimed overall honours with an impressive 40 points. Brett Stokes prevailed in \u201cA\u201d grade with 37 points, while Brendan Bassett secured \u201cC\u201d grade with 38 points on countback from Olivia Chester. Lori Murray won \u201cD\u201d grade on countback from Donny Blamire, and Garry Watson added to the highlights by carding an eagle.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s medley stableford proved even more popular, with a remarkable 138 players teeing off and creating a lively atmosphere around the course. Scoring was again strong with \u201cD\u201d grade golfer Robyn Downing dominating the field to claim both her grade and overall honours with a sublime <\/p>\n
46 points.<\/p>\n
Andrew Flahive was successful in \u201cA\u201d grade with 38 points, while Ben Unstead took out \u201cB\u201d grade with an impressive 41 points. The Flahive family enjoyed further success with Peter Flahive winning \u201cC\u201d grade on 39 points.<\/p>\n
Former local and long hitter Adam Henwood impressed with an eagle, while ladies\u2019 club champion Renee Percival continued her consistent form, collecting two nearest-the-pin prizes.<\/p>\n
