Join now and get your first month for just $1.<\/a><\/p>\n The 32-year old, one of the NBA\u2019s key trade targets after Dallas has held talks with multiple teams, is seeking a second opinion on the injury to determine if surgery is required.<\/p>\n But the likelihood Davis remains sidelined through the February 6 trade deadline all but rules out the centre finding a new home less than 12 months after he was the centrepiece in the disastrous Luka Doncic deal.<\/p>\n It also casts doubt around Davis\u2019 trade market in the off-season as his horror injury run continues.<\/p>\n Various injuries have already limited Davis to a total 29 appearances, plus two play-in games for Dallas since joining the team last February. He\u2019s already missed 18 games this season.<\/p>\n Davis could be out multiple months (Photo by CHRIS GARDNER \/ GETTY IMAGES NORTH AMERICA \/ Getty Images via AFP)Source: AFP<\/p>\n Davis, who\u2019s eligible for a four-year, $275 million extension in August, will be paid $58.5 million next season and has a $62.8 million player option in 2027\/28.<\/p>\n The 14-24 Mavericks are 4-14 without Davis this season and currently sit two and a half games behind Memphis in the final play-in spot in the West.<\/p>\n Former No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, Davis and Kyrie Irving are yet to play a game together as Irving rehabs from an ACL injury.<\/p>\n As for Morant, the Grizzlies are \u201centertaining offers to potentially move\u201d him ahead of the February 6 trade deadline, according to ESPN.<\/a><\/p>\n It\u2019s the first time that Memphis has at least listened to potential deals, ESPN added, and multiple teams are reportedly interested in the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.<\/p>\n At his best on the court, Morant is a two-time All-Star who won Rookie of the Year in 2019-20, earned Most Improved Player honours in 2021-22 and guided the Grizzlies to playoff appearances in four of the last five seasons.<\/p>\n Morant has averaged 19.0 points and 7.6 assists per game this season, but his shooting percentage has dipped to career-low marks from the field (40.1 per cent) and from behind the 3-point arc (20.8 per cent) and he\u2019s appeared in only 18 of a possible 37 games due to various injuries.<\/p>\n The 26-year old is signed through the 2027\/28 season on a five-year, $197 million deal (AUD $294 million). He\u2019s eligible to sign a three-year, $178 million extension this off-season.<\/p>\n Morant\u2019s NBA career has also been filled with off-the-court drama, as he was suspended twice for incidents involving social media and videos where he flashed firearms.<\/p>\n Ja Morant is reportedly on the trade block (Photo by Justin Ford\/Getty Images)Source: Getty Images<\/p>\n Initially, Morant was suspended for eight games in March 2023 after going on Instagram Live and recording a video of himself brandishing a firearm at a Denver-area strip club.<\/p>\n After another video in May where he flashed a gun while in a car, though, the NBA suspended him for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 campaign.<\/p>\n Morant was also suspended one game in November for criticising the Grizzlies\u2019 coaching staff in an interview following a loss.<\/p>\n When asked what went wrong after falling to the Lakers, Morant responded with: \u201cGo ask the coaching staff.\u201d<\/p>\n Then, when asked about his other thoughts, Morant said, \u201cAccording to them, probably don\u2019t play me, honestly. That\u2019s basically what the message was after.\u201d<\/p>\n According to ESPN<\/a>, Morant \u201cstill hasn\u2019t gotten over the suspension because he felt alienated by teammates.\u201d The report added that after his ban, Morant told players and some of his former caches \u201che isn\u2019t playing for Memphis anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n NBA Wrap: Edwards makes scoring history | 02:11<\/p>\n The 16-21 Grizzlies are 10-9 without him this season and 6-12 with him. They currently sit in the West\u2019s final play-in spot and have the 10th best lottery odds ahead of a stacked 2026 draft class.<\/p>\n The Athletic reported in November that the Timberwolves and Kings could emerge as suitors for Morant, and if Memphis \u2014 which sits 10th in the Western Conference at 16-21 entering Saturday\u2019s games \u2014 ends up trading him, it\u2019d mark their second blockbuster since June.<\/p>\n Star guard Desmond Bane was also sent to the Magic in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-round picks and a first-round pick swap.<\/p>\n The report states Memphis is \u201cconsidering multiple paths forward\u201d and the potential of building around its young core of Cedric Coward, Zach Edey, Jaylen Wells and Cam Spencer, as well as Jaren Jackson Jr, while the team is \u201copen\u201d to continuing with Morant as a key piece in its retooling.<\/p>\n Morant could be the second big NBA trade domino to fall after Atlanta dealt All-Star guard Trae Young to Washington this week.<\/a><\/p>\n
