{"id":406169,"date":"2026-01-11T12:07:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T12:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/406169\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T12:07:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T12:07:07","slug":"the-films-giving-a-voice-to-people-with-dementia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/406169\/","title":{"rendered":"The films giving a voice to people with dementia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Coleman died in October last year, in the middle of a run of screenings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">On his deathbed he asked Bustard to continue work on a third film in his memory. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He is now doing this, working with the team that he and Coleman built.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The duo had been developing The F Ward, a film conceived by Coleman about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on people in care homes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Bustard said: &#8220;He left me with a list of tasks to complete but he said what I want you to do more than anything else is to finish the F Ward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I promised Ron I would finish this film, so that&#8217;s what I&#8217;m going to do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The project &#8211; involving actors with dementia alongside other experienced actors &#8211; aims to preserve memories from the pandemic era.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Demented Poet double bill will be at Montrose Playhouse on 22 January,  Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre in Peebles on 23 of January and Eastwood Theatre in Giffnock on 13 February.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Coleman died in October last year, in the middle of a run of screenings.
