{"id":407064,"date":"2026-01-11T22:28:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T22:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/407064\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T22:28:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T22:28:21","slug":"abel-eduard-raegan-denton-earn-master-of-the-amateurs-victories-australian-golf-digest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/407064\/","title":{"rendered":"Abel Eduard, Raegan Denton earn Master of the Amateurs victories \u2013 Australian Golf Digest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Photo: Courtesy Australian Master of the Amateurs<\/p>\n<p>Rising amateur stars Abel Eduard and Raegan Denton made it an Aussie double for the first time in five years on an enthralling final day at the Master of the Amateurs in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>OTHER NEWS:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.australiangolfdigest.com.au\/brooks-koepka-pga-tour-return-liv-golf-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brooks Koepka applies to return to PGA Tour after leaving LIV Golf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Eduard (73) began the final round of the Men\u2019s Championship at Southern Golf Club with a four-stroke buffer and had to hold off a fast-charging Harry Takis (66) to claim the biggest win of his amateur career.<\/p>\n<p>Even par through 10 holes, an eagle at the par-5 11th would prove crucial over the final seven holes.<\/p>\n<p>A par save at 13 was crucial, the Kew and Kingston Heath member cruising to a two-stroke win at 13-under-par despite three bogeys in his final five holes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing into the week, didn\u2019t really know what was going to happen,\u201d said Eduard, the 2023 NSW Amateur champion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFelt like my game was good and stuck to it, put myself in a good position after the first round (9-under 63) and happy to get the job done over the four days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no feeling like having a putt to win. No matter how many shots you are ahead, you\u2019re always going to be a little bit nervous but I was very happy that I knew I\u2019d got the job done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be able to come out here at the start of the year and get the job done this week is really good for my confidence.
